WINNER OF BEST LARGE FOOD STAND AT TASTE OF
GRAMPIAN 2010
Mitchells wanted their 11th year of attending Taste of Grampian to be a little bit special!
We invited many of our local suppliers and local customers to let us use their images to create a stall which would reflect Mitchells ethos to support local producers and suppliers as well as show-casing how many businesses in the North East support their local dairy.
Both suppliers and customers were very energised by the idea behind this project.
The resulting stall won Mitchells the Best Large Food Stand - we were surprised but delighted by this honour and we give our thanks for all the wonderful support shown to Mitchells while undertaking this fun but very worthwhile project.

2010 DRAMBUIE CHALLENGE
The Drambuie Challenge is an international race from Sky to Inverness tracing the steps of Bonnie Prince Charlie where teams tackle a number of events from hill running, cycling, white water rafting, and mountain biking amongst others.
The Garioch Goers, Keith Whyte, partner at Mitchells, Bob Minto of Minto Branding, Frank Mathers an Aberdeen solicitor and Grant Fuller an independent graphic designer, did not come last but found the competition from semi-professionals who were in some instances half their age tough going. The whole experience though was fantastic and all the better as the sun shone.
Hopefully sales of Drambuie will benefit here at Mitchells.

Mitchells voted Best Independent Retailer of the Year by The Scottish Grocer
The 14th annual Scottish Grocer Awards ceremony was once again held at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow on Thursday March 11 2010. The event was hosted by the lovely Tess Daly and the entertainment was courtesy of Faces of Disco - who first found fame on Britains Got Talent.
Mitchells were delighted to be nominated in three separate categories, "chilled store of the year" "independent community champion" and "best independent retailer of the year". Attending on behalf of Mitchells was Keith Whyte, partner, Kathleen Cook, deputy shop manager with her husband Dod and Lesley Berry, Sales & Customer Support with her husband William.
We were overwhelmed to win not one, but two of our catagories!
Keith and Lesley were thrilled to collect the trophy for the inaugural "independent community champion" award which was sponsored by Cadburys. We were up against stiff competition in this category from the Gargunnock Village Store, Stirling and David Sands Ltd, Lochgelly, Fife.
We feel that this award gives Mitchells recognition for not only the work we do in the community but the place we hold within the local community - the £3,000 prize money which accompanied the award will be used for local community projects.

As delighted as we were with winning the community award we were lost for words to then win the Best Independent Retailer of the year!
The competition in this category was also very tough - Duncan's Village Store, Kames, Argyll and Spar South Street, Greenock being our worthy opponents.
Many thanks and hearty congratulations to Graeme Morrice our shop manager, Kathleen and all of the shop team without whom there would have been no award.

Mitchells Customer Survey December 2009
We were over-whelmed by the sheer number of responses we had to the customer questionnaire which we sent out to a random selection of over 300 of our dairy customers. Each reply was put into a draw and the winner would become the proud owner of a luxury Mitchells Hamper.
Patrick Mitchell picked the winning name out of the hat on Monday 18th January and the winner was.......... ALISON PATERSON of ROSIE's CAFE, Rosemount, Aberdeen!! Alison and her team were shocked but delighted to have won - especially as they never win anything! The hamper was full of delicious food and drink - all the contents were chosen from the wide selection of local and quality produce available from Mitchells shop.
Rosie's Cafe is an Aberdeen Social Enterprise, part of the Charity Turning Point Scotland which provides vocational training, work experience and real employment opportunities for people experiencing or recovering from mental health problems. The cafe offers high quality, good value food offering everything from traditional breakfasts, sandwiches and paninis, fresh salads and hot meals as well as delicious home-bakes.
